The Ozark Housing Community - Fall/Winter Edition 2024-25

Happy New Year!

Shout out to the lady pictured! Becky Walker is our community star for this quarter! She moved into public housing in 2021 and recently became a homeowner. Becky told me, two items on her bucket were to become a homeowner and get her GED. Becky is marking items off that list by becoming a homeowner and working hard to get her GED.

What Becky likes most about her house is that she can decorate it and have guests as long as she wants. She plants flowers and has a garden and a yard for her grandson to play in.

Becky is grateful for public housing, but when she moved in, she felt like it was a stepping stone to improving herself, and she knew living in public housing was not a permanent situation for her. Her first step was to work on improving her credit until she was able to purchase her home. She says, "Owning her house is a dream." She looks forward to the day when the house is "all mine." Continue the hard work, Becky! We are so proud of you!

A Few Reminders

It's a new year; it's time to work on your and your family's future. Remember, regardless of housing authority participation, anyone is welcome to attend the GED and ACE classes. Wallace College and Enterprise Community College also offer a variety of career tech programs. So me of the programs are online and only take a year and a half to two years to complete. Public Housing: For recertification, be on time. If you need to reschedule call 24 hours before Your appointment. Bring all required documents. If you need to leave a voicemail, please leave one detailed voicemail and allow 24-48 hours for a callback. Also, please remember, that two missed appointments can result in termination.

Please don't park on the grass around the housing units, and no indoor furniture outside the units.

Housing Choice Voucher: For recertification, please be on time; 15 minutes is late. If you need to reschedule, call before your appointment. Bring your utility bill with the account number.
