About the Executive Director

Beverly Bell-Barber is a dedicated housing professional, community leader, and passionate advocate for families and communities. With more than 35 years of experience in public housing administration, Beverly brings a wealth of knowledge, leadership, and commitment to her role as Executive Director of the Ozark Housing Community.

Beverly holds an Associate's Degree in Accounting from Wallace College and a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with a concentration in Finance from Troy University. Throughout her career, she has demonstrated a strong commitment to sound financial management, accountability, innovation, and excellence in public housing.

Beverly is especially passionate about creating opportunities for youth, families, and seniors. During her career, she has developed and supported numerous community-centered initiatives, including HUD Strong Families Community Day, youth etiquette programs, feeding programs, after-school programming, and opportunities for youth to participate in regional basketball and cheerleading competitions. Her goal has always been to ensure that public housing is more than a place to live-it is a place where individuals and families can find opportunities to grow, thrive, and build a brighter future.

Her leadership extends throughout Alabama and the Southeast. Beverly has previously served as President and Vice President of the Alabama Association of Housing and Redevelopment Authorities (AAHRA) and has served in leadership roles within the Southeast Regional Housing Association. She is also actively involved in community and civic organizations and is committed to building strong partnerships between housing authorities, residents, businesses, schools, faith-based organizations, and community agencies.

As Executive Director of Ozark Housing Community, Beverly looks forward to building upon the foundation already established and working collaboratively with residents, staff, the Board of Commissioners, community partners, and local leaders. She is committed to expanding programs and services that support resident self-sufficiency, youth development, education, healthy families, community engagement, and economic opportunity.

Beverly believes that every resident deserves to be treated with dignity, respect, and compassion. Her vision is to help make Ozark Housing Community a place where residents feel heard, valued, supported, and empowered to reach their full potential.

Beverly is a proud member and current President of the Gamma Alpha Xi Zeta Chapter of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. She also serves her community through various civic and charitable organizations.

Outside of her professional and community service, Beverly is married is the proud mother and grandmother.

Beverly is excited to call Ozark home and looks forward to serving the residents and community of Ozark Housing Community with passion, purpose, and a commitment to excellence.
