About the Executive Director
Dannie R. Walker was appointed as Executive Director and CEO of the OHC September 11, 2011. Dannie has over twenty-eight years of experience administering federal programs sponsored by the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). He is a native of Alcorn County, Mississippi and earned a Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) in Accounting from Mississippi State University.
Dannie's goal is to enhance affordable housing options for families that are in need of safe and descent housing. He promotes programs to achieve the upward mobility of individuals and families which will provide them the opportunity to make the transition from subsidized to non-subsidized housing.
Dannie's primary responsibilities as Executive Director/CEO include developing and implementing high-level strategies, making major organizational decisions, managing the overall operations and resources of the organization, and acting as the main point of communication between the Board of Commissioners and the OHC. The Executive Director/CEO handles the daily operations to include the oversight of the following departments and/or activities:
- Public Housing Department
- Housing Choice Voucher (HCV) Department (formerly known as Section 8)
- Accounting Department
- Human Resources
- Procurement and Compliance
